Nas and Adam planned this Sonoma Coast couple session during their first year of marriage. They wanted a way to slow down during the holidays and spend intentional time together. Instead of something overly structured, they wanted the session to feel natural and unhurried.
We met along the Sonoma Coast, one of my favorite places to photograph in Northern California. The coastline offers a quiet atmosphere and a wide variety of landscapes. There are cliffs, open shoreline views, and nearby forested areas all within a short drive. While it’s outside the San Francisco Bay Area, it’s always worth the trip for couples wanting something scenic and understated.
Couple Session at Goat Rock Beach
The week before the session had been rainy and overcast. We watched the forecast closely and waited for the right opening. By the time we arrived at Goat Rock Beach near Jenner, the weather had completely cleared.
The beach was empty when we arrived. We could only hear the waves and birds overhead as we walked through the shoreline together.
The pace of the session felt calm from the start. Nothing felt rushed or overly directed. That gave Nas and Adam space to settle into the environment naturally. Their connection made the session feel effortless, and the quiet setting along the Sonoma Coast added to that feeling throughout the evening.
Photographing Along the Sonoma Coast
This session was photographed during a mentorship experience alongside Nirav Patel. I had the chance to observe how he approaches movement, natural light, and interaction during a session. Watching his process reinforced the importance of slowing down and letting moments unfold naturally.
I also photographed a few frames on film during the session. Film is not something I heavily promote, but I do offer it for couples who appreciate its texture and slower pace. It felt like a natural fit for the atmosphere of the Sonoma Coast that evening.

The Sonoma Coast has a slower pace that naturally changes the way a session feels. The landscape is open and quiet, which gives couples room to move naturally without distractions or crowds nearby.
